Hemis Festival, Ladakh

Hemis festival is one of the most famous monastic festivals in June to commemorate birth of Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tantric Buddhism in Tibet. The sacred dance drama of the life and mission is performed wearing facial masks and colorful brocades robes. The three-day festival takes place from 9th to 11th. Especially the monkey year festival, which comes in a cycle of 12 years. During it the four-storey thanka of Guru Padma Sambhava is hung in the courtyard and other precious thankas are also exhibited.

Ladakh Festival
Ladakh festival takes place in September 1-15 every year in Leh and villages. The inauguration ceremony takes place in Leh on large scale with the procession of various cultural troupes from different part of Ladakh. It passes through Leh Market dancing, singing with traditional music, in colorful traditional Ladakhi dresses, and finishes at Polo ground after performing their best dances and songs. The festival last for 15 days with regular program in different villages. The program includes Archery, Polo, and Mask Dances from the monasteries, traditional dances by cultural troupes from Villages. There are series of musical concert and dance program in Leh town.



Day 01 : Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Meeting & Greeting & Airport & transfer to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02 : Delhi - Srinagar
After breakfast transfer to Airport to connect flight for Srinagar. On arrival transfer to hotel. Later visit world famous Mughal Gardens visiting the Nishat Bagh (the garden of pleasure) and the Shalimar Bagh (abode of love). In the evening Shikara ride on The Dal Lake to enjoy the beauty of the city. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Srinagar
After breakfast full day visit to Gulmarg which is one of the most beautiful summer resorts in the valley. It has the highest Golf Course in the world. Enjoy the splendour of nature and the snowy mountains. Enjoy Gondola ride (cable car - subject to availability) from Gulmarg to Khalinmarg.

Day 04 : Srinagar - Leh
Early morning transfer to Airport to connect flight for Leh by IC447. Dep. Srinagar 08:40 Hrs. Arr. Leh 09:25 Hrs. On arrival transfer to hotel. Leh is the capital of the cold desert, Ladakh. Full day excursion to the Ladakh Fair. Overnight at hotel.
Please Note: the flight operates only on Tuesday.

Day 05 : Leh
Morning visit the famous Monastries, it is interesting to visit early morning to enjoy the praying ceremony at the Monasteries- Hemis Monastery, Thikshey Monastery and on return visit the Shey Palace.
Afternoon sightseeing in the town. Visit the Shankar Gompa, the Leh Palaceand the Museum. Walk around the Leh town later.
Evening is spent at the horse Polo grounds watching a thrilling game of horse Polo.

Day 06 : Leh
Day is free for your own activities or can spend the day into fair. Watch the beauty of nature. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07 : Leh - Delhi - Onward Destination.
Early morning transfer to Airport to connect flight for Delhi by 9W610. Dep. Leh 07:35 Hrs. Arr. Delhi 08:50 Hrs. On arrival at Delhi transfer to hotel. After breakfast sight-seeing tour to Delhi, which includes Jama Masjid - the largest mosque of Emperor Shahjahan, Red Fort, Raj Ghat- cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, to India Gate - a 42 meter stone arch built in the memory of the Indian Soldiers who died in World War II, Drive past the President's House & Parliament House, Humayun's Tomb, the Qutab Minar & Lotus Temple. Evening transfer toInternational Airport to connect flight for Onward Destination.
